Terms of Service

Last updated: August 25, 2026

The short version

Sidewalk is a coordination tool — it helps owners and walkers plan walks, follow along live, and keep an honest log. The walk itself is a direct arrangement between the owner and the walker.

Sidewalk doesn’t employ, vet, supervise, or insure walkers, and isn’t a party to the payment between you. Use it responsibly, treat each other well, and the rest below is the formal version.

These Terms are an agreement between you and Sidewalk (“Sidewalk,” “we,” “us”), governing your use of the Sidewalk app and website. By using Sidewalk, you agree to these Terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the app.

1.Who can use Sidewalk

You must be 18 or older to use Sidewalk. You’re responsible for the activity on your account and for keeping your sign-in secure. The information you provide should be accurate and kept up to date.

2.What Sidewalk is — and isn’t

Sidewalk is a coordination tool for dog walking: scheduling, live walk updates, GPS route maps, photos, and a record of what happened. It helps a dog owner and a dog walker — people who have their own arrangement — stay in sync.

Sidewalk does not provide dog-walking services and is not a party to the walk. We don’t employ walkers, we don’t set their rates, and we don’t supervise, vet, perform background checks on, train, or insure them. Unlike some platforms, Sidewalk deliberately offers no “guarantee” or insurance program — it’s a tool for people who already know and choose each other.

3.The relationship between owners and walkers

Any walk arranged through Sidewalk is a direct arrangement between the owner and the walker. The two of you are responsible for your own agreement — when and how the walk happens, the care of the dog, conduct, safety, and resolving any disputes between you. Sidewalk is not responsible for the walk, the behavior of any owner or walker, the safety or condition of any dog, or the outcome of any walk.

4.Payments

Owners pay walkers directly, through a third-party payment app the walker chooses (such as Venmo, PayPal, Cash App, or Zelle). Sidewalk never handles, holds, or processes that money, and takes no cut of it. Any payment status shown in the app may be self-reported by the walker and is not a confirmation by Sidewalk that money changed hands. Payment disputes are between the owner and the walker (and, where relevant, the payment app they used).

5.Acceptable use

When you use Sidewalk, you agree not to:

6.Your content

Photos, notes, and other content you add are yours. You give Sidewalk the limited permission it needs to store and display that content to the right people in order to run the service (for example, showing a walk photo to the dog’s household). You’re responsible for what you upload — don’t upload someone else’s private information without the right to do so.

7.Service availability

We work to keep Sidewalk running well, but we don’t promise it will always be available, uninterrupted, or error-free. We may add, change, or remove features over time, and we may need to take the service down for maintenance.

8.Disclaimers

Sidewalk is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We don’t warrant that the app will meet your needs, be accurate or reliable, or that any walk, walker, or owner coordinated through it will meet your expectations. Sidewalk is not responsible for the conduct of any user, the safety of any dog, or anything that happens during a walk.

9.Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Sidewalk will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss arising out of a walk, a user’s conduct, a payment between users, or your use of (or inability to use) the app. Because Sidewalk is provided to you free of charge, our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us for it — which is zero — or, where the law requires a minimum, one hundred U.S. dollars ($100).

10.Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Sidewalk from claims, losses, or expenses arising out of your use of the app, your walks or arrangements with other users, your content, or your violation of these Terms — to the extent permitted by law.

11.Ending your use

You can stop using Sidewalk and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end access for anyone who violates these Terms or misuses the service. Sections that by their nature should survive (such as disclaimers, limitation of liability, and indemnification) continue to apply after your account ends.

12.Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts located in California, and you agree to that venue.

13.Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we’ll change the date at the top and, for meaningful changes, let you know in the app. Continuing to use Sidewalk after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
